The province's health minister and the minister responsible for fire and emergency services both hope that 22 personal care homes who have been given notice to immediately take action to install water sprinklers in their facilities will all follow through with their compliance.
Ross Wiseman and Municipal Affairs Minister Dave Denine said a plan is in place to help move any of the 290 residents who might be affected if the personal care homes do not install the fire protection systems by the deadline of the week of March 10-14.
The ministers said they hope it doesn't come down to having to move these people to alternate living arrangements since the homes will be shut down if they fail to comply.
