Nice to see that the Dept. of Transportation has finally come to its senses and is working on sections of Nfld. & Labrador's version of the Autobahn, The Outer Ring Road. Too bad something can't be done about the nutjobs who drive 20-30 kms over the speed limit, regardless of the road conditions or visibility. These idiots should have landing gear installed on their vehicles for when they lift off. Has anyone ever seen a cop car on the Outer Ring Road ? Guess we've got to keep that traffic moving, eh ?

How come they're only putting barriers up now after the road's been open for years? Why do they always wait until something happens before doing something to improve safety?

Glad to hear something was done to stop these speed demons before someone got hurt.

I do have one piece of advice for those very few of you out there who like to slow down on the on-ramp..and this really irks the heck outta me...It's a merge lane, NOT a yield lane. For the love of God speed up to the flow of traffic and then merge in with them.

My husband is one of the workers, and I'm glad the lanes have been closed. Some drivers are in too much of a hurry to worry about the lives of others. Obviously, these speeding drivers have no family of their own, or they would slow down for fear of injuring someone elses!!
