A third level of government has chipped in to help fund a major renovation of the LSPU Hall in downtown St. John's.
The Resource Centre for the Arts, an artist-run board that oversees operations of the historic facility, will receive $500,000 from the federal department of Canadian Heritage.
St. John's South-Mount Pearl MP Loyola Hearn announced the funding during a ceremony this morning.
The announcement brings the total government funding for the project to $1.5 million - including the province and the City of St. John's contributions of $500,000 each.
The renovations, which will result in a complete facelift, will improve conditions for performers and audiences.
