A bright pink bus to promote breast cancer screening was launched this morning at Confederation Building.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Tour for the Cure bus is an educational centre on wheels to teach women the importance of screening in preventing breast cancer, and early detection to improve chance of survival.
Only 62 per cent of women in Newfoundland, where screening is available, take advantage of it.
In areas where it isn't available, only 50 per cent seek screening.
The bus is located today from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Sobeys, 45 Kelsey Dr., and on Thursday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sobeys, 10 Elizabeth Ave.
There are other stops in the metro area before it rolls across the island and on to the Maritimes. It will visit Labrador next year.
