  • Agree with Recommendation

I have to agree with recommendations regarding the J4D unit at the Janeway. This will be a benefit to the kids and just as important, to the staff. The staff in that unit care about the kids. They have been forced to deal with situations that are beyond their control.

With long term facailities for adolescents, the staff at J4D will be able to concentrate on the kids who do not need long term help. The upside of this will be numerous: 1) staff will feel that they are helping the youth instead of feeling helpless becuase they are concentrating on 1 suicidal youth and ignoring 4 or 5 more youth who need help. 2) Youth will get more hands on attention, which will help them.

These recommendations need, not should be or maybe implemented. They NEED to be implemented. Our youth and more importantly, the great staff on this unit deserve it

I have to agree with the previous post the staff at J4D are great and they must be embracing this report along with the families of the children in need of these services. As a parent of a child in need I just finished reading the report that is posted on Eastern Healths web site and am feeling very hopeful this will help my family.
