A Newfoundland history museum in central is getting an expansion.
The Mary March Provincial Museum in Grand Falls-Windsor is getting a 1,900-square foot expansion that will triple the gallery space available to house temporary exhibits.
Tourism Minister Clyde Jackman unveiled the architectural rendering of the extension in Grand Falls-Windsor today. Construction on the $856,000 expansion is scheduled to begin later this month.
"The larger, enhanced space will increase the museum's ability to accept travelling exhibitions in their entirety, offering residents and visitors alike with exposure to expanded, more diverse exhibition content," Jackman said at the unveiling.
The Mary March Provincial Museum will remain open to the public during construction of the expansion until that part of the facility can be opened in the spring of 2010.
