Legislation in works to add new seats in Commons: Globe

Legislation is reportedly being prepared to add dozens of new seats in the House of Commons for Ontario, Alberta and B.C.
The Globe and Mail says Democratic Reform Minister Steven Fletcher is in the advanced stages of preparing legislation that could be ready this autumn.
The new seats would most likely be concentrated in the burgeoning ridings that ring Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton.
A previous attempt at riding redistribution last year died on the order paper amid when Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty said his province received far fewer new seats than its growing population warranted.
A federal official says the new legislation may have 21 new seats for Ontario, up from 10 in the previous bill.
Alberta could get six seats and British Columbia seven, taking Parliament from 308 members to around 340.
