Bay Roberts -

Two construction workers suffered minor injuries following an industrial accident today at a seniors' complex in Bay Roberts.
At the time of the incident, the workers were erecting trusses for the roof of a new building when strong winds caused 48 trusses - weighing about 400 pounds each - to topple over.
As a result, one construction worker fell about 10 feet to the ground, while the second was pinned between the fallen trusses and scaffolding.
Both received minor injuries and were taken to Carbonear Hospital and were later released.
Members of the Trinity Conception district RCMP, along with Occupational Health and Safety engineers, are investigating the incident.
A stop-work order has since been declared on the work site until further investigation is completed.

When I was roofing years ago, you would never get anything done if you had to wear a safety harness all day. Most of the boys only put them on now if someone is snooping around but they don't tether them to anything.
Some rules were made to be broken.
