Weather update: Rain this afternoon, Wednesday

There's a 40 per cent chance the St. John's area will receive showers early this afternoon, according to Environment Canada's 11 a.m. forecast.
The high after lunch is expected to be plus three.
Tonight, the weather is expected to be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries, with southeast winds of 30 kilometres per hour gusting to 50.
The low this evening will be around freezing.
Environment Canada is predicting a messy Wednesday with a 40 per cent chance of flurries in the morning and periods of rain beginning in the afternoon.
Five millimetres of rain is expected with southwest winds gusting to 60 kilometres per hour, 80 along exposed areas of the coast.
The high for Wednesday is plus two.
