There are more kids eating smarter these days as the number of Kids Eat Smart Clubs across the province reaches the 200 mark, the Kids Eat Smart Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador announced today.
According to a news release, on any given school day, over 52,000 school-aged children have access to a healthy, nutritious breakfast, snack or lunch.
Amalgamated Academy in Bay Roberts will officially launch their Kids Eat Smart Club on Tuesday. This marks the start of the 200th Kids Eat Smart Club in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The continued growth of Kids Eat Smart Clubs is a testament to the importance of the foundation's mandate and indicates an increasing trend in promoting healthy food choices among our youth, and providing nutritious food alternatives.
Kids Eat Smart Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador is an award-winning charitable organization which partners with schools, communities, volunteers and sponsors to set up and support nutritious food programs, called Kids Eat Smart Clubs, to provide school children with a healthy, no cost breakfast, lunch or snack.

Fine: the healthy food is offered, but how many actually eat it? In England, when
healthy eating began, parents pushed food nonsense through school gates. Here, students swarm the local McDonalds in the middle of the day, for a dose of fat, sugar and salt. In fact, the average local diet seems to be stacked with salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats. Just look at trolleys at supermarket checkouts. And we pay for all those heart attacks.
