Christopher Vladislov Sawicki was found not criminally responsible for killing George Benoit of Piccadilly almost two years ago.

A jury gave the verdict early Friday afternoon, just over an hour after they went to deliberation in Supreme Court in Corner Brook.

Sawicki will now be taken back to Waterford Hospital in St. John's, where he will continue to be treated for bipolar mood disorder. A review board, comprised of mental health and justice professionals, will determine how long he will remain there.

As he was leaving the courtroom following the decision, Sawicki said, "it feels good," and he offered a "sincere apology" to the Benoit family.

Do you KNOW that this person was not taking his meds, TaxDodge? People with BPD have been known to go toxic while on their meds. And no one HAS to be held criminally responsible, Baggs, if no one IS criminally responsible. Missing the public hangings, are we?

I don't believe he is Polish, as his middle name should be spelt W?ads?aw , not Vladislov ... Also, his name would be pronounced Sa-Viht-sky , not Sah-wick-kee ... I'm not taking sides on the incident or the verdict, but if the media is going to report, they should report, spell, and pronounce names properly.

Doesn't matter if he was ruled not responsible as long as he spends 10-20 years, or permanently, in the mental where he will be forced to take his meds. No matter what he can't be allowed to be a threat to society anymore, at least no less, than any other murderer that has served his time. But even then releasing someone who may be a certain threat to society has to be looked at, like they should do with pedophiles.

If this person was NOT taking his medication for bipolar as required by his doctor then I would say he is accountable and shouldpay for his crime.

Graham, what if it was your spouse, your father or your mother. Would you like to see him at the post office, the gas station while your loved one died well before their time.

It seems no one is responsible for anything anymore, it's always not my fault
