A gun stolen from a Natural Resources truck this week has been found, the RNC said today.
The shotgun was stolen from a Department of Natural Resources vehicle Wednesday night in Conception Bay South.
According to the department, the conservation officer responsible for the truck had responded to a call regarding a motor vehicle accident involving a moose earlier in the evening during which a moose was put down. The department is investigating the circumstances around an incident.
The department's firearms policy allows for a firearm to be kept overnight in a vehicle when it is required for nuisance animal control.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the shotgun was unloaded and had a trigger lock in place.
The RNC said the theft occurred in the Chaytor's Road area of C.B.S., and was one of a number of theft incidents in that area that night.
Some electronic items were also taken along with the shotgun.
The firearm is described as a non-restricted Remington 12-gauge pump-action shotgun, model 870 Express.
