A trio of Kitimat girls didn't think they would spend three years making a movie when they decided to explore eating disorders among young girls.
The girls were in Grades 6 and 7 when they started their project as part of a volunteer girl's project, but now three years later, their documentary "36-24-36" premieres Monday in Kitimat.
Andrea Sanders-Crouch, who was 11 when the film project started, says she can't wait for the screening.
The film explores eating disorders and body image issues from the perspective of pre-teen girls.
Sanders-Crouch says the moviemakers received input from girls around the world via the Internet who told them about their struggles with body image and eating disorders.
Filmmakers Roderick Taylor and his wife, Suki Athwal, guided the girls through the project, which will be posted for free on the Internet, but seeks donations to the Kitimat Child Development Centre.
Musician Ken Tizzard, former bass player with the Winnipeg-based rock band The Watchmen, donated some of his solo music to help with the soundtrack.
