Proposals for main space due March 31

The annual call for new proposals for visual arts exhibitions at the main space of Eastern Edge Gallery (72 Harbour Dr.) is underway.

The main space is open for works by national and international artists in addition to provincial creators. To this, a call is made each year to draw new artists and their work to the city.

The annual call for new proposals for visual arts exhibitions at the main space of Eastern Edge Gallery (72 Harbour Dr.) is underway.

The main space is open for works by national and international artists in addition to provincial creators. To this, a call is made each year to draw new artists and their work to the city.

Deadline for submissions for the main gallery space in the coming year is March 31, postmarked by 5 p.m.

Selections for the main space are made by means of a selection committee following the closing of the call. The committee is made up of the gallery director, the director's assistant, three to five board members and two members from the general community.

Meanwhile, submissions are continually being accepted for the Rogue Gallery, a second space under the Eastern Edge roof.

The Rogue Gallery is dedicated to contemporary and alternative art, including small works and experimental pieces, of new and emerging in-province artists.

Showing in the Rogue Gallery means first completing a gallery application and then being selected in one of three annual draws - one on Aug. 15, one on Dec. 15 and one on March 15.

THE PIN-IN

While the Eastern Edge Gallery main space and the location's Rogue Gallery space tend to draw the attention of visitors, the Pin-In Gallery is the third space at the Harbour Drive location available to creative works.
The Pin-In Gallery (essentially a wooden display box at the entrance to Eastern Edge) features one-inch buttons with selected artist designs.
Eastern Edge creates 100 buttons of each selected design and uses those buttons year-round for promotions for the artist-run co-operative.
Submissions for the Pin-In are accepted year-round and selected designs are exhibited for six to 12 weeks.
Selected artists receive $50 and 10 of the produced buttons.
Information on how to propose a design for the Pin-In is available from gallery staff.

MAIN SPACE - BASIC SUBMISSION GUIDE

If you are interested in exhibiting your work at the Eastern Edge Gallery main space, here are some of the basics you will need to provide:
A current CV with current contact info.
An artist and/or curatorial statement.
A project proposal (note: if project is in development, present support about the development as well as related past work).
A schedule of activities, if applicable.
An equipment list or itemization of special technical needs, if applicable.
An image list.
A self-addressed stamped envelope. Due to excessive costs for the gallery, your submission will not be returned without one. For return of CD-R/DVD only, ensure correct postage for those items. Dossiers that are not claimed or pre-stamped will not be kept.
Support materials: up to 15 images (a total of 15 for group submissions).
If you are interested in submitting your work, you should know the gallery's selection committee does not want to see books of your work, staples in your papers or submission tapes that run on and on for 45 minutes. To get a sense of all the gritty details on the submission requirements, you are encouraged to contact an employee at the gallery by phoning 709-739-1882 or by e-mail at easternedgegallery@gmail.com.
