Eastern Health is restricting visits to Glenbrook Lodge in St. John's following confirmation of several cases of norovirus among residents and staff.

Family and friends are being asked to refrain from visiting the long-term care facility until further notice.

"In recent weeks, we have seen an increase of norovirus in our long term care homes, as well as in the community at large," said Dr. David Allison, medical officer of health with Eastern Health.

"The very best way to prevent the spread of illness associated with diarrhea and vomiting is to wash your hands thoroughly and frequently."

Exemptions to the visitor restrictions may be made in consultation with the Glenbrook administration.
