Environment Canada predicts that snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected by Friday evening for the Avalon and Burin peninsulas, and in the Clarenville area.
A low pressure system is forecast to develop southwest of the Grand Banks this afternoon and move to lie off the Avalon Peninsula by Friday morning.
Snow is expected to begin over southern sections after midnight and intensify as Friday morning comes on. Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected over southeast and eastern sections by Friday evening.
There will be some blowing snow associated with this system, but it will ease off as temperatures will rise above zero by Friday afternoon.
