Toronto -
Nissan has joined the growing list of automakers recalling their vehicles, with a recall of more than 6,000 trucks and minivans in Canada to fix problems with brake pedals and fuel gauges.
Industry analysts say recalls will become more commonplace as new vehicles incorporate more complex technology.
Analyst Dennis DesRosiers says automakers have been making their vehicles increasingly sophisticated in response to new regulations for safety, emissions and fuel efficiency.
He predicts this will lead to more and bigger recalls over the next 10 years.
Vehicle companies are also stepping up their safety initiatives in response to the regulatory pressure on Toyota due to a massive global recall of its products.
General Motors, Chrysler and Honda have also issued recalls recently to deal with safety issues in their vehicles.
