Quidi Vidi Lake burst its banks Saturday morning after several days of heavy rain.
The boathouse is currently swamped on three sides, and the road on the south side of the lake is underwater.
Scores of St. John's residents took the opportunity to come down to the water and take pictures of the flooding.
Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning this morning, forecasting a further 15-20 millimetres of rain.
The system has already poured between 90 and 110 mm of rain on parts of the Northeast Avalon.

Organizations: Environment Canada

No doubt the water ban will still come into effect this year regardless

I don't want to hear any excuses about not having enough rainfall to lift the yearly summer water bans.

The thing is that they are building all of these houses, hundreds , and where are they all getting their water supply? The same place as the rest of us . No wonder there is a water ban in the summer , because there is not enough water to support everyone . It is the infrastructure, or lack of .

I guess with all the rain we have had this last month, we'll be able to put the sprinkler out this summer and fill some baby pools for our children. Last summer was a real bummer for children and lawns - especially when you spend big dollars to have a nice lawn!!!
