Benevolent Irish Society

The Benevolent Irish Society's club rooms looked like a sea of green today during the club's annual St. Patrick's Day celebration.
Over 75 people wore green to celebrate their proud Irish heritage while participating in the day's activities of a parade, mass and refreshments.
The tradition dates back to 1851 and is considered a big day by long-time member Art Escott.
More coverage in Tuesday's print edition.

It's not St. Patrick's Day until it's St. Patrick's Day, and March 17th is St. Patrick's Day. So eat, drink and be merry, even if you're two days early. Happy St. Patrick's Day.

WTF??? St. Patrick's Day is March 17, which is next Wednesday, according to any calendar I've seen lately.

Lovely that these people can continue on to celebrate such an important day. It's just too bad that the average working jane like me didn't have the day off to celebrate with them. Heck, they even have St. Patrick's Day parades in QUEBEC!!

Mr. Premier, look! Something that Quebec has that NL doesn't... a real celebration for St. Patrick's Day. Surely you can remedy this??
