The fifth annual Shave for the Brave in support of Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) is breaking records this year with events around the province, and for the first time ever, across the country, according to a news release.
YACC's major annual fundraiser has seen Shave events occur in five communities, eight schools, and seven offices across the country so far this year, with more to come.
This year has been a year of many firsts for Shave for the Brave. From a new and improved website, to the creation of some key roles for Shave supporters, i.e. Head Hunters and Mane Mamas, to an inter-provincial School Shave Challenge - in 2010 things are ever growing for YACC.
"We decided to step it up a level this year," said Geoff Eaton, executive director of YACC.
"We decided to find appealing ways for more people to get involved without loosing their locks. With the new roles, people can simply come on board to support the cause by spreading the word about the shave or by taking the lead and arranging a shave within their own workplace or community. Every person can play a role and we are finding more ways to help get them involved."

If that were the case, Frank, do you think it would continue to be a success? One that is bigger and better every year. Let me guess, you have never done anything to raise money for the cause but still you sit back and berate people that are. Get a life.

I disagree, where there are children and teenagers in school wanting to take part in this for a friend that has cancer or maybe just because, this idea will never be past its prime.

Hey Frank, if it isn't broken don't fix it, besides raising money, the hair from this cause goes to make wigs for young cancer patients who have lost their own.

haven't we beat this horse to death enough....it's time to find new innovative ideas to raise money for the cause. This idea was interesting one time (like a long time ago) but it's well past it's prime!

I have shaved for the past 3 years and will continue to do so.... WTG fellow shavers ....

I don't know where you have been in the past few weeks, but you have not been in touch with reality. This event has been growing year after year. This year there was a record number of people that turned up @ the Avalon Mall. Also this is the first year that it has gone outside NF. I for one have been doing it for all of the 5 years and this year it has been just as great as the first year. You have all ranges of ages doing this, and every year more people do it. So where do you come up with it being past it's prime. -
