A human body found in the beach area near Upper Gullies this morning is that of missing man Wayne Peacock, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has confirmed.
Police say that about 9:40 a.m., officers responded to a report of a body in the water along the shoreline at the end of Doyle's Road in Upper Gullies, C.B.S. An individual working in the area noticed the body in the water and notified authorities.
Peacock, 58, was last seen at his home in the Topsail area around 7 a.m. March 22. He was reported missing around 6 p.m. that day and his red Mazda pickup was later found in the Topsail Beach parking lot. He was known to exercise in the area.
Divers and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's fast rescue craft scoured the waters off Topsail Beach Tuesday. Earlier this week the RNC announced his footwear had been found in the Topsail Beach area.
The RNC says the cause of death will be determined at a later date by the medical examiner.
