Staff of the wildlife division of the province's Department of Environment and Conservation, and partnering organizations, will set up exhibits at the Corner Brook Plaza from Tuesday to Friday this week, and at the Village Mall in St. John's from Wednesday to Saturday, to celebrate National Wildlife Week.
"Biodiversity includes all life on Earth, much of which we depend upon for survival," Environment Minister Charlene Johnson said.
"From the medicine that heals us to the food we eat, we rely on biodiversity in ways we don't always recognize. Many of our actions threaten biodiversity on a daily basis, so I encourage everyone to make at least one positive change that will, in turn, have a positive effect on life as we know it."
Visitors to the Village Mall will also have an opportunity to view a live peregrine falcon at 2 p.m. both Thursday and Saturday.
Winners of the department's annual Wild About Art contest, which was launched throughout the provincial school districts, will also be announced at the Village Mall on Saturday.

Yeah support National Wildlife week and shoot an eagle or an osprey. Dump some paint or oil into the water. You could never do as much damage to wildlife in 10 lifetimes than this excuse for an environment minister does by just signing her name.

So Ms. Johnson does biodiversity include dumping sulphuric acid into lakes, ponds, streams, the watertable, and the ocean? I encourage Ms. Johnson to make 1 change to make a positive effect on life as we used to know it before we got kicked out of our recreational hunting/fishing/camping area. The pond I used to fish regularily doesn't exist anymore because it has been backfilled for them to build a smelter on. What there isn't enough land around so you have to kill more ponds? This sham of a minister should be removed from office before she can do anymore irreversible damage to this beautiful province, its animals, or its people.
