College of the North Atlantic's (CNA) construction estimating, constructing planning and scheduling and construction project management courses have received gold seal accreditation by the Canadian Construction Association's (CCA) Gold Seal Certification Program.
The program is a national certification for construction project managers, superintendents and estimators. Certification is based on the candidate's education, experience and their ability to satisfy the rigorous standards of the program.
"The accreditation of College of the North Atlantic courses is important for potential candidates, especially in areas across the country where there is a shortage of construction management education. CCA's Gold Seal Program is more than happy to be partners with all community colleges and universities who provide construction management courses," said Rhonda Neary, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Association.
The program measures the course content against their National Curriculum Standard, which was created in partnership with construction professionals and educational institutions across the country to ensure the future workforce was well equipped when put in management positions within the industry. Also, candidates seeking to gain professional status in the Gold Seal program can use these courses against the formal education criteria.
