Drinking and driving cases keep police busy in metro area Friday night

Police in the metro area had their hands full last night with several alleged drunk drivers.
Overnight police reports indicate that at least three people were arrested, charged and released to appear in court at a later date.
A 61-year-old man allegedly drove into a utility pole on Commonwealth Avenue in Mount Pearl at the intersection of Smallwood Drive around 9:45 p.m. and a 47-year-old man was arrested after a traffic stop on Queen's Road at approximately 12:15 a.m.
A 35-year-old man who is also charged with drinking and driving is also facing one count of public mischief after a stopping the car he was driving on Pitts Memorial Drive around 1:20 a.m.
Police were called by a taxi driver, who reported an erratic driver in the area.
All three were released to appear in court at a later date, meaning their names won't be released until they appear in court.
