The federal government has issued a travel advisory, warning of an imminent terrorist attack in India's capital New Delhi.
An advisory posted on the Department of Foreign Affairs website Saturday says "credible and specific reporting indicates that a terrorist attack could be carried out in the following days or weeks."
The alert urges Canadians to exercise a high degree of caution, monitor their surroundings and minimize their presence in market areas of the city.
It specifically urges travellers to avoid the popular Chandni Chowk area, frequented by westerners.
A similar advisory was issued by the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi earlier today.
Militants linked to Pakistan-based Islamic groups have been blamed for previous deadly attacks in the city.
