It is the same old story - You could hang some people with a new piece of rope, and they would still find something to complain about!

Elinor is a great donor I agree. But should we call it the Rooms Art Gallery anymore? Maybe The Husky and Ratcliffe Gallery? Should taxpayers pay for the high salaries up there? How many born NL'ers work in good jobs at the Rooms? Hope the Tely do a huge investigative report into how many people actually visit the Rooms excluding school trips.

What a bunch of self righteous nincompoops. If this person wishes to donate her money to the rooms, that is her choice. If those such as Joanne prefer to see money donated to healthcare, they are free to take out their personal cheque books, otherwise shut your pie holes.

This is a very generous donation; however, this large sum of money could have purchased much needed life-saving health care equipment, extending human lives; not a museum; they're dead.
    Thank you, anyhow.

Bob Osborne, I did thank Ms. Ratcliffe in my last sentence. If it came across as being sarcastic, that is certainly not what I intended.

What a wonderful gift Mrs. Gill-Ratcliffe has given to every Newfoundlander and Labradorian and to our future generations.
It is obvious that those who wrote negative comments where not in attendance last evening and are ignorant to the purpose of this gift.
.....and by the way, Mrs. Ratcliffe is a strong supporter of Health care in our Province. If you had read The Telegram at all over the past few months you would be knowledgable of the very generous gifts she has given to Womans Health , to the Orthotics and Prosthetics facility at the Dr. L.A. Miller and Centre and to cardiac care program,in particular, the Give from the Heart campaign!
    Thank you Mrs. Ratcliffe.

Bad move to give anything to government. Just ask the Pippys. In ten or twenty years it will be redeveloped or sold off and forgotten about.

You did thank her, Joanne. We all can read that. But it was a very backhanded thank you. It reads as, Thanks for the big waste of money! Thank you, anyhow.

I really find it odd that when someone does something with a good heart there are too many folk ready to pick it apart-accept it for what it is- a more than generous donation!Lucky St Johns.

Joanne, I think we should be thanksing Ms. Ratcliffe for her donation. I for one am not a museum visitor and in fact I think the Rooms is the ugliest building in St. John's but a million dollar donation will certainly help out for others to enjoy.

Yes Ms. Ratcliffe could have donated her money to The Janeway or or areas of health but she could have put it into a nice yacht for herslf as well.

Thanks Ms. Ratcliffe I am sure there will be people who appreciate your kind donation.
