The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is advising business owners of a fraudulent scam involving pull-tab lottery tickets, currently operating in the St. John's area.
Over the past two days, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary say it has responded to several complaints at businesses in the center of the city, whereby a male suspect purchases pull-tab lottery tickets, then replaces one with a counterfeit winning ticket for $150 and attempts to redeem that ticket.
The suspect is described as approximately 30 years of age, with light-brown or blonde hair, is about 5'7" tall and operates a green mini van.
The RNC is continuing to investigate this crime and seeking the assistance of the general public.
Anyone with information in relation to this fraud is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can provide information on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
