The body of a Canadian Forces colonel who was killed in Afghanistan this week has returned to Canada.
A plane carrying Col. Geoff Parker's casket landed this afternoon at CFB Trenton, in eastern Ontario.
The 42-year-old native of Oakville, Ont., died Tuesday when a suicide bomber attacked a NATO convoy in Kabul.
The explosion also killed five U.S. soldiers and 12 Afghan civilians.
Parker was the 145th member of the Canadian military, and the highest-ranking officer, to die since the start of the Afghan mission in 2002.
A Canadian diplomat and a journalist have also been killed.
