The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is seeking the assistance of the general public in connection with a report of drag racing on the Outer Ring Road in St. John's Tuesday.
About 8:35 p.m. Tuesday, two dark-coloured Corvettes were drag racing while travelling westbound on the Outer Ring Road, in between the Logy Bay Road and Allandale Road exits.
Witnesses have reported that the two vehicles were travelling at excessive speeds, driving dangerously and passing other vehicles in an unsafe manner. One of the corvettes passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed, while driving on the shoulder of the roadway.
One of the Corvettes exited the Outer Ring Road at the Allandale Road exit and was briefly delayed in traffic at a stop sign. The RNC is seeking the assistance of the general public.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information pertaining to this manner is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can provide information on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
