Both ferries which transport people between Bell Island and Portugal Cove are currently being repaired because of issues with their thrusters.
On the weekend, the Flanders was taken out of service to repair a bow thruster.
On Tuesday morning, The Nonia was also taken out of service after a rope was found wrapped around one of its thrusters.
According to Wabana Mayor Gary Gosine, the ferry tried to cross to Portugal Cove this morning, but the drag from the rope was too great. The Nonia was then also taken out of service while workers attempt to remove the rope.
Meanwhile, in the House of Assembly, the government and the Liberal Opposition took turns blaming the other for the state of the province's ferry fleet.
The Flanders is expected to be back in service within a day or two. There's no word yet on how long the Nonia may be out.
