Newfoundland and Labrador youth will be given the opportunity to develop new skills and pursue career development opportunities.
The provincial government will invest $250,000 over three years for a pilot project called Skills Development and Career Opportunities for Youth: The Co-operative Enterprise Option.
"This initiative will directly assist young people throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, particularly in rural areas, in their search for meaningful employment opportunities." Human Resources Minister Susan Sullivan said in a news release.
The project is expected to generate opportunities for youth to develop skills, as well as assist the province's co-operatives in addressing employee succession issues and the ongoing success of their enterprises.
Funding for the initiative is being provided under the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Agreement.
