A long-time civil servant with the provincial government has been named acting president of the College of the North Atlantic - for a second time.
Premier Danny Williams, announced today that Bruce Hollett will assume the role on an interim basis, effective immediately.
Hollett has held several deputy minister appointments, most recently within Executive Council.
He is also a former deputy minister of education, and previously served as acting college president.
"Mr. Hollett brings a wealth of knowledge to the position," said Williams.
Hollett takes over at a difficult time for the college, which is still dealing with fallout from overpayments to employees of the college's campus in Qatar.
Taxpayers may be on the hook for as much as $5 million - $3.5 million in salary overpayments, and $1.5 million in management fees wrongly charged to the Qatari government.
Former president Jean Madill abruptly resigned in April after the overpayments were made public.
The college has 17 campuses throughout the province, and one in the Middle East State of Qatar.
Hollett has a master of business administration from York University, and a bachelor of commerce from Memorial University.
