A teenage mother charged in Quebec in the dog mauling death of her baby says she's devastated by what's happened to her.
In an interview Wednesday, the 17-year-old young mother told the French language TVA network she's "completely broken."
The teenager, who cannot be identified, was arrested Monday in Saint-Barnabe-Sud and charged with manslaughter.
Police said the three-week-old baby was attacked by a husky as she sat on the floor strapped in her car seat.
The baby's father, who wasn't home at the time, has said the baby's mother and grandmother were outside having a smoke when the dog attacked, and by the time they responded it was too late.
The mother, who returns to court Aug. 31, told TVA she feels shock and guilt, but also anger at prosecutors for what she feels is a rush to judgment.
She says she was left alone in a jail cell before she could even mourn her baby and has been hurt by comments from people who claim she didn't want her baby
