The Terry Fox Foundation is looking for a volunteer to co-ordinate its annual run in St. John's.
Without one, the run will be cancelled, said Heather Strong, provincial director of the Terry Fox Foundation.
"It is imperative that this run, and its ability to spread hope and optimism, continues to be organized," Strong said.
The 30th anniversary run is scheduled for Sept. 19 at Quidi Vidi Lake. There are 28 other runs across the province as well.
She said a lead organizer is needed in order to oversee a dedicated group of volunteers and co-ordinate the event.
She noted the previous co-ordinator has stepped down after several years in the position. She added that several other locations are also in need of volunteer support.
"We rely solely on the generosity of the general public to participate and co-ordinate events, not unlike Terry himself when he ran across the island. He relied on people to wash his clothes and feed him a warm meal," she said.

Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are very generous with their donations of time and money to the Cancer Society. We raised millions for Daffodil Place in a short period of time.
I do not like the whiny tone and threat of having to cancel Caner runs due to the lack of volunteers contained in this article. The bit about the generosity of Newfoundlanders washing terry's clothes was unnecessary.

I do not think Ms. Strong is a volunteer.
The Telegram needs to do a story on the salary compensation paid at the Canadian cancer Society. They are extremely well paid. -
