Young boy believed to have killed Carmanville dog

Police in Carmanville are unable to charge a young boy they believed killed a dog in that community last week.
Officers were called to a house in Stoneville after the homeowner found his dog dead in the backyard last Friday.
The man explained that he'd left the dog tethered in his yard overnight while he was travelling and when he returned the next day the dog was still tied on but was dead on the ground.
The man told police that he'd found a large barbeque fork laying near the dog.
Officers investigated and found that the dog was beaten to death with the barbeque fork and that a boy, under the age of 12 was the one who killed the dog.
Children that young cannot be charged with a crime so police in Carmanville are working with Child, Youth and Family Services, the boy's parents and school officials to deal with the incident.
