Teaching assistants to vote on tentative agreement

Juan Acevedo, president of the Teaching Assistants' Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland (TAUMUN)j, announced today that the union has reached a tentative agreement with Memorial University after six months of bargaining.
According to a news release, TAUMUN was certified in August 2009 with 96 per cent of votes in support of unionization. The local represents over 500 teaching, research and graduate assistants working at Memorial.
The tentative agreement covers a period of four years - from Sept. 1, 2009 to Aug. 31, 2013.
Members of TAUMUN are advised that ratification meetings will take place in the MUNSU Council Chambers, 2nd Floor University Centre, Room UC 2001 at the following times: today, 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, noon to 5 p.m.
