The Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) says it has negotiated tentative collective agreements with two more home-care agencies in the province.
Rosemore Home Care Services, located in Gander and St. John's, and Comfort Home Care, located in Clarenville, Bay Roberts, C.B.S. and Mount Pearl, employ a total of 280 people.
According to NAPE President Carol Furlong, "this will be a total of nine recently negotiated settlements between NAPE and home-care agencies and we look forward to concluding agreements with the remaining agencies."
The tentative agreement consists of wage increases, improvements in benefits and contract language.
Ratification votes will be held over the coming weeks.

I have been working for a homecare agency under contract with NAPE for some time now and have yet to see any wage increase or benefits stemming from joining the union. We still don't have a health care plan, which is ridiculous considering we work in the health care field.
