Terry Rielly said today that although the Teddy Bear Picnic has been cancelled because of today's rain - and cancelled for this year at the Arts and Culture Centre location in St. John's - he says he will perform the picnic concert if anyone can help secure a location and a sound system.
"This is one of those rare occasions where families can attend a fun time together that doesn't cost anything to get into," Rielly said. "It just has to happen, if not on the original date. The few times in the past it was cancelled or delayed, alternative locations were indeed found. Once it was held in Bowring Park and another year, more recently, in Victoria Park. There hasn't been a year yet it didn't take place."
Rielly, 60, donates his time each year to the event which began 33 years ago when Terry's daughter, Skye, was born. Now he's a "Poppy Bear" with three grandchildren.
