The RNC has recovered four out of five vehicles stolen in the Goulds area of St. John's over a span of two days.
Between Tuesday and Thursday, a Chevrolet pickup, an ATV, a Dodge Neon, a Hyundai sedan and Toyota Corolla were stolen in the areas of Doyle's Road, Durdle Drive and Howlett's Line.
The 2005 white, four-door Hyundai sedan has not been recovered. The license plate is HKP 803.
RNC media relations officer Const. Suzanne FitzGerald said whoever is responsible smashed windows in the vehicles, hot-wired the vehicles, then dumped them. The thefts occurred between midnight and 7 a.m. each day. Nothing was stolen from the vehicles.
"At this point we're still trying to determine what the purpose of (the thefts) was," said FitzGerald.
Police believe there was more than one suspect.
The RNC is reminding the public to lock their doors and to refrain from leaving valuables in cars. Anyone witnessing suspicious activity can call the RNC at 729-8000.
