More than 400 Canadian employees - plus many students and staff from other countries - at the College of the North Atlantic's camp in Doha, Qatar, gathered to celebrate Canada Day.
Diane Martin, public information officer for the Qatar campus, said in an e-mail: "This year, to celebrate our great nation's birthday, we held a barbeque for employees and their families. We started off the ceremonies with a moment of silence to honour Memorial Day. We followed with everyone singing O Canada and the cutting of our Canada cake by Sgt. Wayne Carroll (retired) of the RCMP. In the background, scenes from the Vancouver Olympics and Canadian Heritage moments - including the Log Driver's Waltz - had everyone glued to the screen (and in most cases singing along!)"
More than 800 people joined in the celebrations.
