Vandals drop beer, urine, dead rat into library return box, destroying books

Police in Deer Lake are investigating after workers at the local library found beer bottles, urine and a dead rat stuffed into the book return box.
Officials say the act of vandalism destroyed 27 books.
Librarian Worneta Cramm says they've had the odd snowball stuffed in the box before but never anything like this.
The library also had a rock thrown through the front entrance last week after someone tried to break in.
The building will soon be undergoing a $100,000 facelift that will include new security features.
