The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Labrador City are investigating a case of fraud and misuse of credit cards.
The RNC today received a complaint from a business in the area advising that a male, identifying himself over the phone as an employee for a contracting company, is looking to purchase mobile phone cards for his workers.
The male provides store employees with a credit card number in exchange for the pin numbers to access the phone cards.
The RNC would like the general public and businesses in the area to be aware of this telephone scam. There have been reports of similar incidents in Newfoundland and other provinces.
The RNC is requesting that anyone with information regarding this matter or other matters to contact the RNC Detachment in Labrador City at 709-944-7602 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) www.crimestoppers.ca.
