A young male was taken to hospital Thursday afternoon following an accident on Route 60 in Foxtrap.
The driver apparently lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a utility pole, breaking it into three pieces. The car overturned.
The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating, and Newfoundland Power personnel are also on site.
The driver's injuries appear non-life threatening.
The accident occurred at 1 p.m.
Evidence from the scene suggests the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed when it left the road. A witness said he saw the vehicle racing with another car prior to the accident.
