Signs missing, Mounties warn of consequences

The RCMP's Burin Peninsula district is seeking assistance in solving the theft of road signs in Marystown.
Recently, police say, a number of signs have been stolen from around the fish plant in Mooring Cove.
Road signs are also expensive property and cost in the area of $700.
According to the Mounties, possible consequences of such action range from being charged with theft, mischief and/or mischief causing endangerment to life, and manslaughter.
The last two offences carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
"This is a serious offence as these signs are meant to safely direct the proper flow of traffic. Removal of a road signs could lead to a range of motor vehicle collisions ranging from minor fender benders to serious fatalities," the police said in a release.
