Susan Gillam, Chief Executive Officer for Western Health, announced today that Cynthia Davis has been appointed Chief Operating Officer - Secondary Services for the health authority.
The position is currently held by Dr. Minnie Wasmeier who will be retiring in September.
Davis has been the director of clinical effectiveness with the Quality Management and Research branch of Western Health since 2006. Prior to that, she served as the assistant vice president of patient services at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener, Ont., with a primary responsibility for cardiac and surgical programs.
"We are extremely pleased to have Ms. Davis take on this leadership role within Western Health", said Gillam. "This position is paramount to our focus on the delivery of safe, quality acute care services at our hospitals in Corner Brook and Stephenville. Ms. Davis brings extensive knowledge and expertise in this area and also has the tremendous benefit of knowing the continuum of programs and services that we provide at Western Health".
The Chief Operating Officer - Secondary Services is responsible for providing administrative direction and leadership to the organization in the areas of acute care inpatient services including surgical services, ambulatory care, medical care, women's and children's health as well as rehabilitative services and nutrition services.
Davis will assume her new leadership role in September.
