Transcontinental websites will broadcast event at Mile One Centre

Telegram readers who can’t make it to St. John’s for Tuesday night’s hurricane Igor relief concert will still be able to take it in.

That’s because Transcontinental’s 17 provincial websites — including The Telegram’s — will broadcast the Mile One Centre concert live on their websites.

The websites will stream the NTV broadcast from start to finish of the We Stand on Guard concert, featuring some of the province’s most popular performing artists, including The Once, Hey Rosetta!, Tara Oram, Kim Stockwood, Damhnait Doyle, Billy and the Bruisers, Amelia Curran, Shanneyganock, The Novaks, The Idlers, 8-Track Favourites, and Jim Payne and Fergus O’Byrne. Tickets are $40 ($20 for students).

“The Telegram and Transcontinental are honoured to do their part in this worthwhile fundraiser,”  Telegram managing editor Kerry Hann said.

“It’s important to try to get the message out to as many of our readers and viewers as possible, and the Internet is a good way to do that for those people who obviously can’t make it to the live concert.”

The concert is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Viewers can point their browsers to www.thetelegram.com to watch the show.
