Thank you for the thoughtful and informative article. Knowing someone who died by suicide can be devastating. It can be hard to recognize the signs , but it is important to recognize that someone needs help, and to get them that help.

This is a very interesting article which potrays a very respectable family. There are times in ones lifetime that Suicide seems to be the only highway of peace. Today, people can get help from various professionals who can really help. The big problem is that people have so much pride and feel seeking help is a weakness. Throughout my years as a professional there have been many unexpected deaths that suprised us all. The fact that Joan shared this message will perhaps open the ears and eyes of many to seek help and also do so for others who may be suffering from a depressive state of mind.

Death can be a choice made not only by depressed persons. There are circumstances where death is a sensible choice. If an adult chooses death, and that death does not involve the participation of another individual, then no one, not family and not professional people, absolutely no one should have the right to interfere.
