Shawn Lidster is a singer/songwriter from Cupids Crossing and his travels within the music industry have taken him to far-off Australia. His new CD, “The Burning,” was recorded there at Bill Chambers Studio.
Going back to his roots, “The Burning,” nominated for 2010 MusicNL Country Album, takes you on an emotional journey with 11 original songs written about family, the past, the present, the future and home in Newfoundland.
It’s acoustic/roots/folk/alt country/gospel and blues all combined to showcase Shawn’s ability to express his feelings in different styles of music that he has grown up on and is influenced by. Shawn penned the unofficial theme song for
Cupids 400, “Cupers Cove,” which is available on Shawn’s 2006 release “Legends on the Baccalieu Trail,” which also includes “Newfoundland Summer’s Day” and “The Sealers Song.”
Another song, “Hockeyville in Harbour Grace” aired on CBC’s “Hockey Night in Canada” during a Toronto and Montreal game and was featured in Maclean’s magazine. For more on Shawn’s music, click on www.shawnlidster.com.
