Wade Dawe performed live for the first time in January of 2003. He has been performing around Eastern Newfoundland and at many local venues in St. John’s. His pleasant voice and guitar have been well received by audiences, resulting in much positive feedback and comments, from being repeatedly told by audiences how much they enjoyed the show, to audience members being moved to walk to the stage, in the middle of a show, to give generous tips. There have also been candid remarks such as, “You ... you’re good,” or “When are you coming to Iowa?” From the first time Wade took a turn as an open mike participant, the reception has been welcoming. Having studied piano as a child, Wade learned to read music and won first place at a music festival in the six years and under age group. Growing up, Wade was first into the popular music of the mid-’80s, but at the same time heard equal amounts of classic country. His parents never missed the local Saturday afternoon radio show “800 Country” (broadcast from radio station VOWR in St. John's). When he first started playing guitar in 1997, it was mostly the classic country, but over the years he has moved into rock, and folk styles, such as Cash, Prine, Dylan, Waits, Willie Nelson, and popular music from the ’40s through to the ’80s. — Submitted photo
