When asked to define himself, Richard Michael Fox says that he is “a body of infinite consciousness of sovereign being creating a very rich human experience.” To say he is complex is an understatement. He has been a hairdresser, studied landscape architecture at University of Toronto, co-owned a catering company, managed private estates in Beverly Hills, survived a stroke, owns two harpsichords, and has lived in his jeep to pursue his dreams. “Experience is for the living,” he says. Richard has been seen in many musical theatre productions in St. John’s. He played Riff Raff in “Rocky Horror Show,” and King Herod in “Jesus Christ Superstar.” He has hosted several burlesque shows for Neighbourhood Dance Works at the LSPU Hall and the Majestic Theatre. He is devoting this phase of his life to the pursuit of “bel canto” in spite of his severe deafness and has released his first solo album of Baroque repertoire, “Behind The Mask.” The album was recorded in the D.F. Cook Recital Hall on Easter Sunday 2011, arranged by Fox and directed the Atlantic String Quartet with Leslee Heys on harpsichord. It can be heard on his Youtube channel, and purchased through his website www.richardmichaelfox.ca or at Fred’s Records in St. John’s. Hello Rick I enjoyed hearing your voice soaring and was glad that you were sharing a laugh with someone at the end of the recording. I happened to be clearing off some bookshelves yesterday, saw you in one of the old Brother Rice books, then there you were in the paper. Best of luck to you.
